Hawks G Bibby returns to lineup vs. Wizards
Feb 11, 2009 - 5:59 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Mike Bibby's absence from the Atlanta Hawks' lineup lasted just one game. The veteran point guard returned to the starting lineup Tuesday night to lead the Hawks to a 111-90 victory over the Washington Wizards. He was sidelined Saturday with a sprained left foot.
After two nights off, he was back to man the point - and not a moment too soon. Without him, the Hawks had a miserable night, losing a 121-97 blowout to the lowly Los Angeles Clippers. His impact was certainly felt upon his return, as he collected 12 points and six assists while leading an offense that put up its highest scoring output since January 23.
"He's a big part of what we have done and what we do," Atlanta coach Mike Woodson said. "I think the guys like playing with him. He makes things happen on the floor by scoring the basketball, and passes to the open guys when needed."
Bibby is averaging 16.0 points and 5.4 assists for the Hawks, who have their sights set on their second straight playoff appearance.
