Celtics G Tony Allen undergoes thumb surgery

Feb 18, 2009 - 9:32 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Boston Celtics guard Tony Allen is expected to miss two months after undergoing left thumb surgery on Wednesday.

Allen was hurt during practice last week before the Celtics started their current road trip with wins at New Orleans and Dallas.

He is averaging 7.8 points through 40 games this season.

Allen's surgery comes one day after the Celtics traded guard Sam Cassell and cash considerations to the Sacramento Kings for a second-round pick in the 2015 draft.
