Nets cut ties with F-C Swift
Mar 2, 2009 - 4:29 AM EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- With the calendar turning over, the New Jersey Nets took the opportunity to do a bit of roster clean-up, severing ties with veteran forward Stromile Swift. The former second overall pick has been used sparingly this season, appearing in just six games due to a lack of effectiveness and a sprained right ankle that has hobbled him lately.
He averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds this season.
Since the move was made on March 1, Swift remains eligible for the postseason should any team decide to swiftly pick him up.
Swift is in his ninth NBA season, having previously spent time with the Vancouver and Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. He has career averages of 8.5 points and 4.7 boards.
No one has shouted yet.
