Bucks G Redd has surgery to repair torn ACL

Mar 3, 2009 - 10:39 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp next season.

The surgical procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brian Cole in Oak Park, Illinois.

The nine-year veteran immediately will begin a rehabilitation program that is expected to take six months, the Bucks said.

Redd suffered the injury in the Bucks' 106-104 win at Sacramento on January 24 when he landed awkwardly on the foot of Milwaukee guard Luke Ridnour.

An MRI revealed the ACL tear and ended an injury-plagued season for Redd, the Bucks' leading scorer who missed 14 games at the beginning of the year with an ankle injury.

In 33 games this season, Redd averaged 21.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals.

With Redd in the lineup, the Bucks posted a 17-16 record. Since losing him, they have gone 12-17 and are clinging to the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference at 29-33.
