AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons will be without All-Star guard Allen Iverson for the next two weeks due to a sore back, the team announced Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Iverson's condition was evaluated at Georgetown, where starred in college, and it was recommended by the doctors that the guard suspend basketball related activities for two weeks.
Iverson will not travel with the team to prevent stress on his back and will be re-evaluated again by the doctors at Georgetown following the conclusion of the two-week period.
The 13-year veteran suffered the injury in a 103-91 loss at Miami on February 24, then missed the final 36 minutes of Wednesday's 90-87 defeat at Miami.
Iverson had an MRI exam on Friday and flew back to Detroit the same day for further tests. He was not with the Pistons for Sunday's 105-95 victory in Boston or Tuesday's 100-95 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
The Pistons have won their past three games without Iverson, snapping an eight-game slide with Friday's 93-85 in Orlando.
Detroit coach Michael Curry has said that Iverson will be used off the bench when he returns to the lineup.
The Pistons' starting backcourt tandem of Richard Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey has been effective in Iverson's absence.
