Pitt suspends F Gilbert Brown for fall semester
Aug 29, 2009 - 2:08 AM PITTSBURGH(AP) -- Pittsburgh has suspended forward Gilbert Brown from the men's basketball team for the fall semester because of academic reasons.The school made the announcement Friday.
Brown, a redshirt junior, played in 32 games as a reserve last season when the Panthers went 31-5, reached No. 1 for three weeks and fell one win shy of the Final Four. He scored in double figures five times and averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Brown could be eligible to rejoin the team Dec. 20.
During the 2007-08 season, Brown played in 37 games, starting 15, and averaged 6.5 points and 3.1 rebounds.
