Terps' Williams gets 1-year extension to 2013
Sep 21, 2009 - 8:49 PM COLLEGE PARK, Md.(AP) -- Maryland men's basketball coach Gary Williams has received a one-year extension on his contract, which could keep him at the job into 2013.Williams' contract includes automatic extensions for achieving benchmark standards by the Terrapins, both athletically and academically.
Williams is entering his 21st season as head coach at his alma mater. The extension takes the term of his contract through June 30, 2013.
He is the winningest coach in Maryland history (418) and ranks sixth nationally among active coaches with 625 victories (625-357) in 31 seasons overall.
