Notre Dame loses Martin for the season with ACL
Oct 2, 2009 - 3:14 PM SOUTH BEND, Ind.(AP) -- Notre Dame forward Scott Martin, expected to start for the Fighting Irish, will miss the upcoming season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.Martin underwent an MRI Friday, a day after injuring his knee during a preseason workout.
Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said he was disappointed for Martin, but said he expects him to be ready for the 2010-11 season. The 6-foot-8 Martin sat out last season after transferring from Purdue, where he averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 32 games and eight starts as a freshman.
Martin was a highly rated recruit out of Valparaiso High School, averaging 22.2 points and 9.1 rebounds as a senior.
