Duquense F Thiero hospitalized
Jan 19, 2007 - 7:00 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Duquense forward Almamy Thiero was admitted to the hospital with for treatment of blood clots in his lungs, coach Ron Everhart announced Friday.A first-year transfer from Memphis, Thiero admitted himself to Mercy Hospital after experiencing discomfort early Friday. He is expected to be hospitalized indefinitely.
"Fortunately, he got to the hospital in time for the proper tests to be run and he's resting comfortably," Everhart said.
It is not the first time Thiero has experienced problems with blood clots. He missed the majority of the 2003-04 season with blood clots in his lungs.
The 6-9 Thiero, who also has battled leg and knee injuries throughout his career, is averaging 2.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15 games for the Dukes this season.
