No. 7 Purdue cruises to exhibition win
Nov 4, 2009 - 4:13 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.(AP) -- Keaton Grant had 14 points and five steals, and the No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers beat California of Pennsylvania 78-44 in an exhibition game on Tuesday night.JaJuan Johnson, a returning All-Big Ten selection, added 12 points and three blocks, and E'Twaun Moore and D.J. Byrd each scored 11 for the Boilermakers, who jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead before coasting.
Kelsey Williams had 13 points, Andrew Young scored 10 and Chris Moore added eight rebounds, six steals and four blocks for the Division II Vulcans.
Purdue raced out to a fast start, taking a 7-0 lead on Moore's jumper. The Boilermakers extended their advantage to 40-18 later in the first half on Byrd's free throw. The Vulcans didn't get closer than 17 in the second half.
