AP source: St. John's to interview Skinner
Mar 26, 2010 - 3:22 PM By JIM O'CONNELL AP Basketball WriterSYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- A person close to the situation says Boston College coach Al Skinner will interview with St. John's.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because there was no official announcement. St. John's athletic director Chris Monasch was unavailable for comment.
Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt rejected an offer from St. John's on Thursday.
St. John's fired Norm Roberts last week after six seasons as basketball coach. The Red Storm have not been to the NCAA tournament since 2002.
Skinner has a 247-165 record in 13 seasons at Boston College, taking the Eagles to the NCAA tournament seven times. He coached Rhode Island to the NCAA tournament twice in nine seasons.
