New Orleans G McCalebb enters NBA draft

Apr 27, 2007 - 9:55 PM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Bo McCalebb will get to see how his big season in the Sun Belt Conference translates into the NBA.

McCalebb, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, has declared for the NBA draft, New Orleans announced on Friday.

The 6-0 junior guard, who will turn 22 on May 4, will not hire an agent, allowing him the option to return to school if he withdraws himself from the draft process by June 18.

"We are very supportive of Bo's decision," Privateers coach Buzz Williams said. "I don't know of any Division I basketball player who doesn't dream of playing at the highest level. He will get a chance to see where he stands among the best in the game."

Despite missing all but four games in 2005-06 with a wrist injury, McCalebb bounced back this past season, finishing sixth in the nation in scoring with 25.0 points. He also shot 47.8 percent from the field and grabbed 6.8 rebounds.

McCalebb became New Orleans' all-time leading scorer in February, finishing the season with 1,937 points for the 14-17 Privateers.
