ACC and ESPN extend TV deal through 2026-27
May 9, 2012 - 9:54 PM Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have extended their television deal through the 2026-27 season on Wednesday.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by either side, but it's being reported that it's worth $3.6 billion over 15 years.
"We are excited to have further enhanced our partnership with ESPN through the extension of our multimedia contract," said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "We are proud that ESPN has invested so deeply in the ACC both from a resource and exposure standpoint. As we look to the future, this relationship will be tremendous for our schools, fans, coaches and student-athletes."
With Pittsburgh and Syracuse set to join the conference, moving there from the Big East, next season will see an 18-game schedule in both men's and women's basketball conference play.
On the football side, ESPN will now have the right to televise three Friday night ACC contests each year, which includes Boston College each hosting one game and an afternoon or evening game on Thanksgiving.
Also, more Olympic sports will be covered by the ESPN family of channels throughout the year.
