George Mason to remain in CAA
May 11, 2012 - 7:34 PM Fairfax, VA (Sports Network) - After having discussions with the Atlantic 10 about joining its conference, George Mason announced Friday that it will stay in the Colonial Athletic Conference, its home since 1985."Through this process we've engaged in open communication with senior executives at George Mason University. We respected the process George Mason University went through and are pleased it decided that continued membership in the CAA is in the best interest of the university and its athletic programs," said CAA commissioner Tom Yeager in a statement.
Last week, it was announced that Butler was leaving the Horizon League to join the Atlantic 10, which will lose Temple to the Big East and Charlotte to Conference USA in 2013-14.
