George Mason to announce move to Atlantic 10
Mar 25, 2013 - 12:09 AM Newport News, VA (Sports Network) - George Mason University is moving to the Atlantic 10, according to several media reports.The A-10 has scheduled a telephone press conference at 1:45 p.m. ET on Monday, but didn't disclose that the Patriots would be joining the league. A press release said the A-10 would "make a major announcement regarding the league's future."
The Atlantic 10 is losing Xavier and Butler next season to the new Big East. Temple is also leaving the A-10 after this season for a newly-named conference that is the former Big East. Charlotte is moving to Conference USA.
The Patriots (19-14), a Final Four team in 2006, will be leaving the Colonial Athletic Association. George Mason will host Houston in the quarterfinal round of the College Basketball Invitational Monday night.
