Crimson Tide lose key piece by releasing Lacey
Apr 24, 2013 - 2:55 PM Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - The Alabama men's basketball program has granted the release of sophomore guard Trevor Lacey who expressed his desire to transfer."I enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Trevor for the two years he was here," Head Coach Anthony Grant said after making the announcement. "We certainly wish him the best of luck as he continues to pursue his education and his basketball career."
Lacey was the Crimson Tide's primary playmaker (3.2 apg) this past season when the squad earned a 23-13 overall record and made it to the NIT quarterfinals. Lacey also led the team in 3-pointers made (62) as well as attempts (166), while ranking second in scoring (11.3 ppg). Additionally, Lacey was a member of the 2011-12 team that earned an NCAA Tournament berth.
"This definitely was not an easy decision to make. It's been great at Alabama during my two years," Lacey said.
Lacey has yet to give any indication as to where he plans to transfer.
