Davidson moving to A-10
May 8, 2013 - 6:22 PM Newport News, VA (Sports Network) - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Wednesday that Davidson will join the league for the 2014-15 season. The Wildcats are the second school the conference has added this offseason to offset the losses of Temple, Charlotte, Butler and Xavier. George Mason is leaving the CAA to join the Atlantic 10 for the 2013-14 academic year. Davidson originally turned down an opportunity to join the CAA a year ago to stay in the Southern Conference.
"Davidson is an ideal fit for the Atlantic 10 -- as a nationally recognized academic Institution complimented by excellence in a broad-based athletic program -- the Wildcats will be competitive immediately. Their success in men's basketball is important, bringing another nationally recognized brand into the league," Atlantic 10 commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade said.
The remaining members in the A-10 include UMass, Dayton, Rhode Island, La Salle, Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne, Fordham, Richmond, Saint Louis, George Washington and VCU.
