FedExForum to host first AAC conference tourney
Jun 11, 2013 - 5:13 PM Providence, RI (Sports Network) - The American Athletic Conference announced Tuesday that its first men's basketball tournament will be played at the FedExForum in Memphis, TN.The tournament will run from March 12-15.
"We are very excited to have the first American Athletic Conference championship at FedExForum," AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco said. "We received significant interest from many outstanding venues. FedExForum is an outstanding facility and the Forum, the city of Memphis, the University of Memphis and the local community will combine to create a wonderful inaugural event that our teams, coaches, administrators and fans will embrace and enjoy."
FedExForum is the home to the University of Memphis men's basketball team and the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. The building will also host the 2014 NCAA South Regional.
For 2013-14, the American Athletic Conference will include Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers, South Florida, Southern Methodist and Temple.
