Ware leaving Louisville for Georgia State
Apr 12, 2014 - 5:14 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Ware, the Louisville guard who suffered one of the most gruesome on-court injuries in memory, has decided to transfer to Georgia State.Ware announced his intentions to leave Louisville late last month and revealed where he will attend school via Twitter late Friday night.
"GSU," Ware tweeted, later thanking the Louisville fans, coaches and staff on Saturday.
"I want to thank the entire cardinal organization from the coaches, to the staff, trainers, fans, and anyone who's been a supporter of me." Ware wrote Saturday.
The Louisville Courier-Journal also confirmed the decision, citing his mother on Saturday as saying, "Kevin has committed."
Ware played sparingly for Louisville this season, averaging only 1.7 points in just nine games after recovering from a gruesome compound fracture of his lower right leg suffered during an Elite Eight victory over Duke in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
The 21-year-old Georgia native returned in November in an exhibition contest against Pikeville, but was shut down in December after another setback. He had a solid sophomore season before the injury, contributing 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in a reserve role for a team that went on to win the national championship.
No one has shouted yet.
