Duke's Rasheed Sulaimon cut from team
Jan 29, 2015 - 10:06 PM Durham, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Duke guard Rasheed Sulaimon has been dismissed from the men's basketball team.Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski announced the decision Thursday, saying the junior "has been unable to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program."
The school said Sulaimon remains in good academic standing and is expected to finish the spring semester.
"It is a privilege to represent Duke University and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner," Krzyzewski said in a statement. "After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program."
Sulaimon, 20, came off the bench in all 20 games for the fourth-ranked Blue Devils this season and was averaging 7.5 points. In Wednesday's loss to No. 8 Notre Dame, he had three points in 12 minutes.
He averaged 11.6 points as a freshman and 9.9 points last season.
