Louisville handles Bellarmine 71-55 in exhibition game

Nov 1, 2015 - 9:55 PM LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Jaylen Johnson had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Louisville cruised past Bellarmine 71-55 on Sunday in its exhibition opener.

The Cardinals led just 32-26 at halftime behind 33 percent shooting but began the second 7 of 16 from the field. They shoot 13 of 27 overall in the final 20 minutes and pull away from the NCAA Division II Knights, their crosstown neighbors.

Guard Trey Lewis, a graduate transfer, scored the first seven points of the second half to finish with 10 and propel Louisville to its 30th straight exhibition win.

Johnson, a sophomore forward, was 6 of 8 from the field in 22 minutes. Guard Quentin Snider had eight assists while Damion Lee, another graduate transfer, and freshman Donovan Mitchell each had nine points.

Josh Derksen scored 20 points for Bellarmine, which shot 32 percent overall. Rusty Troutman and George Suggs each had 11 for the Knights.
