Coach: Clemson reserve guard Austin Ajukwa transferring
Nov 3, 2015 - 6:57 PM CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) Clemson reserve guard Austin Ajukwa is leaving the team after two seasons.Tigers men's basketball coach Brad Brownell announced Ajukwa's decision to transfer on Tuesday. Clemson opens the season Nov. 13 against North Carolina Central.
Ajukwa played 55 games the past two seasons, averaging 2.7 points a game during his career. The 6-foot-6 junior wanted a bigger role on the team, Brownell said.
The Tigers have two transfers sitting out this season in ex-Vanderbilt guard Shelton Mitchell and former Robert Morris guard Marcquise Reed. Both are expected to make big contributions for Clemson when they're eligible next season.
Brownell says he was disappointed with the timing of Ajukwa's decision.
