Spanish team: Ex-Louisville player Kuric has brain tumor

(AP) Louisville coach Rick Pitino has asked for prayers for Kyle Kuric after the player's Spanish pro team announced that the former Cardinal star has a brain tumor.CB Gran Canaria announced Kuric's diagnosis and said in a statement on its website Tuesday that he has been admitted to a Barcelona hospital with surgery expected in the coming days. The statement adds that the family of Gran Canaria Basketball Club wants to show ''unconditional support'' for Kuric.
Kuric played for Louisville from 2008-12 and was the top scorer during its Final Four run as a senior. Pitino called Kuric ''one of the finest young men'' he had the privilege to coach and said in a statement ''Our prayers and good wishes go out for a healthy and speedy recovery for Kyle.''
