MWC reprimands Air Force coach Reynolds
Nov 29, 2007 - 12:41 AM COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds was publicly reprimanded by the Mountain West Conference on Wednesday for his remarks about the Falcons' 59-57 loss to Montana on Saturday. The MWC stated that Reynolds' public criticism of the officiating was a violation of the league's sportsmanship rule.
Reynolds, whose comments appeared in the Sunday edition of the Colorado Springs Gazette, was upset that a turnover call which would have given Air Force the ball in the closing moments with a chance to tie the score was overturned by an official from the far side of the court.
"The fact that the official was right there, and he made the call, and this guy runs over from out of his territory to overrule him, you know, that's questionable," Reynolds told the paper.
The coach also unleashed his frustrations about a carrying call on the Falcons, stating that the Grizzlies had a number of violations that were not called.
The MVC stated that it would have no further comment on the situation.
No one has shouted yet.
