Arkansas State coach Nutt resigns
Feb 20, 2008 - 1:29 AM JONESBORO, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Arkansas State announced on Tuesday that men's basketball coach Dickey Nutt has relinquished his duties.Nutt was in the midst of his 13th season at ASU and compiled a 189-187 overall mark, including a 104-102 record in Sun Belt Conference play.
"We are very grateful to Dickey Nutt for his many years of service to this university and to our athletic program and wish coach Nutt and his family the absolute best in the future," athletic director Dr. Dean Lee said.
Nutt, who was the 14th coach in school history, led the school to a Sun Belt West Division championship last season. He also led the Indians (9-17, 4-11) to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999.
Lee appointed assistants Shawn Forrest and Al Grushkin as co-interim head coaches, and the school will begin an immediate national search for Nutt's replacement.
