Lawson held out vs. Wake Forest
Feb 25, 2008 - 12:32 AM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- As expected, North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson did not play in Sunday's home game against Wake Forest as he struggles to recover from a sprained left ankle.Sidelined for his sixth game since suffering the injury in a win at Florida State on February 3, Lawson was considered doubtful to play as he had been unable to participate in a full practice as late as Friday.
The sophomore is averaging 13.6 points and 5.7 assists in 21 games.
In Lawson's absence, senior Quentin Thomas has played well, averaging 7.4 points and 6.6 assists as the Tar Heels have gone 4-1 over their last five games.
North Carolina, which will have three Atlantic Coast Conference games remaining after Sunday, did have forward Deon Thompson in the lineup despite a hyperextended left knee and a lower back injury.
Thompson has contributed 9.0 points and 5.2 rebounds in 27 starts this season.
