Cal's Anderson to enter draft
Apr 3, 2008 - 10:42 PM BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- California sophomore forward Ryan Anderson will make himself eligible for this year's NBA draft, the school announced Thursday.Anderson, the Pac-10 Conference leading scorer this season, does not plan to hire an agent, which would allow him to return to California for his junior year.
"I am excited to have the chance to see where I stand in the eyes of NBA scouts," said Anderson, who averaged 21.1 points and 9.9 rebounds. "This is a great opportunity for me to get out there and get feedback on my game and see what I need to work on to improve myself as a player."
Anderson, California's first Pac-10 scoring champion in 15 years, set a school record for a sophomore by recording 697 points this season.
He has until June 16 to withdraw his name from consideration. Until then, Anderson can work out for NBA teams at his own expense.
The NBA draft takes place in New York on June 26.
