Bennett to stay at Washington State
Apr 8, 2008 - 10:20 PM PULLMAN, Washington (Ticker) -- Washington State men's basketball coach Tony Bennett will remain at his position, the school announced on Tuesday.Eight days after declining to pursue the Indiana coaching job, the 38-year-old announced that he will not consider any other positions.
"I will remain as the head coach at Washington State and I look forward to building for the future," Bennett said. "I am thankful for the opportunity this university gave me to become head coach and for the continued support of President Floyd, Jim Sterk and the entire Cougar Nation. Washington State University is a special place."
In his second season as coach, Bennett guided the Cougars to a 26-9 record and their first regional semifinal appearance since 1941. It was the second straight campaign with 26 wins, tying the school record.
