Oklahoma State to name Ford coach

Apr 16, 2008 - 5:06 PM BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Oklahoma State is expected to name Travis Ford its next men's basketball coach, ESPN reported on its web site on Wednesday.

If the report is true it would be a surprising turn of events as Ford had announced that he was going to stay at Massachusetts last Thursday after turning down potential job offers at Providence and Louisiana State.

The 38-year-old coach would take over for Sean Sutton, who guided the Cowboys to a 39-29 record over two seasons but failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Ford guided the Minutemen to a 25-11 mark this season, reaching the NIT championship game before losing to Ohio State. He went 62-35 over three seasons at Massachusetts.
