Kansas G Collins undergoes surgery

Apr 21, 2008 - 4:56 PM LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Kansas guard Sherron Collins underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday.

The sophomore guard had missed six games early in the season for the national champions due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

Jayhawks coach Bill Self said that he expects Collins to be ready for the start of next season.

"Sherron had some knee problems this year and we knew it was going to require surgery after the season," Self said. "He toughed it out and was a primary reason for our success this year. Doctors said the surgery went very well and anticipate no complications."

Collins was named the Big 12 Conference Sixth Man of the Year, averaging 9.3 points and 3.1 assists per game.
