Report: Kellogg to take UMass job
Apr 22, 2008 - 7:04 PM BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Derek Kellogg, currently an assistant at Memphis, is set to replace Travis Ford as coach at Massachusetts, ESPN.com reported Tuesday.The web site reported that Kellogg, a former player for the Minutemen, will be officially introduced during a news conference at the school on Wednesday.
Kellogg, 34, would be taking over a team that lost to Ohio State in the championship game of this year's National Invitation Tournament. Ford left last week to take the job at Oklahoma State.
Kellogg played at Massachusetts from 1991-95 under current Memphis head coach John Calipari. During his career, the Minutemen captured four straight Atlantic 10 Conference regular season and tournament titles.
Kellogg has been an assistant at Memphis for the past eight seasons.
