Missouri's Lyons, Carroll declare for draft
Apr 24, 2008 - 8:54 PM COLUMBIA, Missouri (Ticker) -- Missouri junior forwards Leo Lyons and DeMarre Carroll declared for the NBA draft Thursday, but neither player will hire an agent.Lyons led the Tigers in scoring at 13.1 points per game, while Carroll ranked second on the team at 13.0 per contest.
Carroll led Missouri in rebounding at 6.7 and Lyons averaged 5.7 rebounds per game.
By not hiring an agent, both players can retain their collegiate eligibility and have the option to return to Missouri if they choose to do so by the June 16 deadline.
"This rule is specifically in place to allow these young men to go out and gather information about their professional options, Missouri coach Mike Anderson said. "It's an opportunity to compete against some of the best players at their position and get some great advice from folks around the professional game."
