May 2, 2008 - 10:36 PM IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- Iowa junior guard Tony Freeman asked for, and was granted his release from his scholarship, the school announced on Friday.

The 6-1, 190-pound Freeman averaged 13.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22 games with the Hawkeyes this season. Freeman missed the first 10 games of the season while recovering from a stress fracture.

"Tony worked hard to come back from his injury last season and we appreciate the effort he provided throughout the course of the year. We wish him nothing but success in the future."

In three seasons at Iowa, Freeman averaged 7.5 points and 2.7 assists in 86 games.
