Memphis' Anderson pulls out of NBA draft

May 23, 2008 - 9:44 PM MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Antonio Anderson withdrew his name for early entry in the NBA draft, Memphis announced Friday.

The 6-6 guard, who entered himself into the draft process in late April, will return to school for his senior season.

"I've decided to take my name out of the draft," Anderson said. "The feedback I received is that I would be taken in the second round, and I wasn't comfortable with that. I took my name out this morning and I'm coming back."

This past season, Anderson started all 40 games for the national runner-up Tigers, averaging 8.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Anderson was named the Conference USA tournament MVP and selected to the league's All-Defensive Team for a second straight year.

"I'm excited about my decision to return," Anderson said. "As I told Coach (John Calipari), I'm happy about coming back, earning my degree and playing another year of college basketball for Memphis."
