Arizona G Wise to return for junior season
May 30, 2008 - 11:35 PM TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Nic Wise announced on Friday that he will return for his junior season at the University of Arizona, ending speculation that the diminutive guard would transfer."We're happy to have Nic back," Arizona coach Lute Olson said. "His experience and his leadership are things we will rely on next season."
The 5-9 Wise averaged 9.2 points and a team-high 4.4 assists in 27 games last season and helped the Wildcats (19-15, 8-10 Pac-10) to their 24th straight NCAA Tournament appearance - the longest active streak in the nation.
"This is where I want to be," Wise said. "I trust Coach Olson, and he wants me to be a leader - the captain - next season, and that's what I'm going to do."
