G Williams transfers to Oregon St

Jun 10, 2008 - 9:10 PM CORVALLIS, Oregon (Ticker) -- Former Providence guard Dwain Williams announced Tuesday that he will transfer to Oregon State for his final two seasons of eligibility.

Williams averaged 11.0 points during his sophomore season with the Friars but will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer guidelines.

"We are excited to have a player of Dwain's caliber come to Oregon State," Beavers first-year coach Craig Robinson said. "I had an opportunity to coach against him at Brown and I came away very impressed. He's a talented guard and is the type of player who can provide an immediate impact and can help us build as a program."

The 6-0 guard had scored 7.5 points, while appearing in 25 games during his freshman season with Providence.
