LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Kansas junior guard Mario Chalmers announced Sunday that he will remain in the upcoming NBA draft.

Chalmers, who will be remembered by Jayhawks fans for making the game-tying 3-pointer in the waning seconds of Kansas' national championship win over Memphis, joins teammates Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur as early entrants in the draft.

"Being at Kansas has made me a better player and better person," Chalmers said. "I want to thank all the fans, the coaches and players who have helped me in my three years at KU. I will always be a Jayhawk and will come back and visit every chance I get."

The 6-1 guard was a member of the Big 12 Conference All-Defensive team each of the past two seasons and was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player. He averaged 12.8 points and 4.3 assists this past campaign.

"We are excited for Mario's draft prospects," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "From what we have gathered his stock has climbed. We wish Mario the very best and we will anxiously be waiting to see where all of our guys will be drafted."
