Cleveland State signs Waters to extension
Oct 27, 2008 - 4:46 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland State on Monday rewarded coach Gary Waters with a contract extension until at least the 2012-13 season.Waters' new deal replaces the the original five-year contract he signed when he came to Cleveland State in 2006. He has compiled a 31-34 record in two seasons.
"I am excited about the prospects of ending my coaching career at Cleveland State," Waters said. "The structure of this contract will allow us to do the things that we need to do as a program to make Cleveland State one of the best basketball programs in the country."
Last season, Waters was voted the Horizon League Coach of the Year after the Vikings went 21-13 and reached the National Invitation Tournament. It marked the program's first postseason appearance in 20 years.
