St. John's F Mason, Jr. out for season

Nov 22, 2008 - 7:49 AM QUEENS, New York (Ticker) -- St. John's announced Friday that forward Anthony Mason, Jr. will miss the rest of the season with a torn tendon in his right foot.

Mason suffered the injury during the Red Storm's 82-70 loss at Boston College on Tuesday.

The senior underwent surgery and will take a medical redshirt so he will be able to return next season.

Mason led St. John's in scoring last season and had averaged 14.0 points over the first three games this season.

"We are all disappointed and feel for Anthony," St. John's coach Norm Roberts said. "This is an unfortunate situation, but it is part of the game. We believe that Mase will come back from this, a stronger player and a stronger person."
