USC F Cunningham to have knee surgery

Nov 26, 2008 - 1:50 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Southern California sophomore forward Kasey Cunningham will undergo surgery on his left knee on Wednesday to remove a piece of torn cartilage, the school announced Tuesday.

The 6-7 Cunningham suffered the injury in the second half of Sunday's 83-72 loss to Missouri in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. He finished with a career-high 11 points and six rebounds in 14 minutes.

It was the third injury to Cunningham's knee in the past four years. The first was suffered during his senior year at Cibola High in Albuquerque, New Mexico, forcing him to be redshirted for his freshman season. Last season, Cunningham appeared in just nine games after tearing the ACL in his left knee in practice on December 12.

Following the latest surgery, there will be no timetable for Cunningham's return.

In four games this season, Cunningham averaged 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 rebounds.
