St. Louis G Cotto to transfer

Dec 12, 2008 - 1:19 AM ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Saint Louis freshman guard Ruben Cotto has decided to transfer, men's basketball coach Rick Majerus said Thursday.

Cotto averaged 3.9 points and 1.0 rebounds over seven games this season. He also recorded seven assists and five steals.

"I informed the coaching staff today that I was transferring," Cotto said. "I wish the coaches and my teammates the best of luck. Saint Louis University and its basketball program were very fair to me and gave me a good education."

"Ruben and I talked, and he indicated to me that he wanted to play more," Majerus said. "Ruben is a very nice young man. We wish him all the luck in the world. We are pulling for him to be successful, both in the classroom and on the court."
