Miami-Ohio G Hayes to have wrist surgery
Dec 29, 2008 - 11:36 PM OXFORD, Ohio (Ticker) -- Miami-Ohio guard Kenny Hayes will undergo surgery on his right wrist January 7 and will be out indefinitely, the school announced Monday.Hayes, the Redhawks' second-leading scorer at 13.9 points per game, suffered the injury in a game against Northwestern State on December 6. After missing a December 11 contest against Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the senior played on December 13 against Valparaiso but was held scoreless in 20 minutes.
The 2008 Honorable Mention All-Mid-American Conference selection then sat out Miami's December 20 game at West Virginia.
"It is certainly difficult to lose one of your starters and best all-around players for even one game, but you hope that other players step up to the challenge to help fill the void while he attends to his injury," Miami head coach Charlie Coles said.
