TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (Ticker) -- Alabama guard Ronald Steele will miss the remainder of his senior season due to plantar fasciitis, coach Mark Gottfried announced Tuesday.

Steele, who has been out of action since January 11 due to the injury, averaged 12.9 points and 3.7 assists this season. His best season came in 2005-06 when he averaged 14.3 points per game.

"This is a very difficult time for Ron as his injuries have been very unfortunate and difficult for him," Gottfried said. "I'll always be indebted to his contributions to our program and the University of Alabama and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

Steele missed all of the 2007-08 season after undergoing surgeries on both knees.
