NAME: Tyrese Rice

SCHOOL: Boston College

POSITION: Guard

HEIGHT: 6-foot-1

WEIGHT: 190 pounds

SCOUTING REPORT: Rice was a dynamic scorer in four years at Boston College, and while his statistics declined slightly during his senior season, the point guard had a big role in leading the Eagles back to the NCAA tournament for a third time in his career. In addition to his 16.9 points - down from 21.0 during his junior year - Rice averaged more than five assists for the third straight season while dealing with heavy attention from opposing defenders as BC's main threat. He also saved one of his best performances for what was likely the Eagles' biggest win of the season, an 85-78 road upset of previously unbeaten North Carolina in January. Rice had 25 points and eight assists and hit 9 of 10 from the free throw line, displaying a big part of his offensive abilities as he went to the line 201 times and made 85.6 percent this season. That reflects on his explosive ability to drive to the basket, but it's unclear how that will translate to the NBA given Rice's diminutive size and relative lack of strength, and he may have to develop into more of a passing point guard. He also ranked among the top 10 nationally in turnovers per game, another area he'll have to improve if he hopes to have a future in the league. But as he already has a good jump shot, Rice's game certainly has potential, and he's likely to be chosen in the second round.
