UConn's Caroline Doty to play in league title game
Mar 9, 2010 - 5:45 PM HARTFORD, Conn.(AP) -- Connecticut's Caroline Doty will play in the Big East championship game Tuesday night after a scary head and neck injury during the Huskies' NCAA-record 71st straight victory. The school said she participated in a shootaround Tuesday morning and was cleared by the medical staff to play against No. 9 West Virginia.
The sophomore guard was inadvertently elbowed in the head by Notre Dame's Ashley Barlow with 50 seconds left in Monday night's game. Doty lay on the floor for a few minutes before being helped up.
The injury dampened UConn's celebration of breaking its own NCAA record.
