Miami-Florida rewards Meier with two-year extension
Mar 27, 2012 - 4:59 PM Coral Gables, FL (Sports Network) - The University of Miami has agreed to a two-year contract extension with women's head basketball coach Katie Meier.The extension will keep Meier in Miami through April 30, 2018.
Meier, who just completed her seventh season at the helm of the UM program, has posted a 54-11 record over the last two seasons and shared the 2011 ACC regular-season title.
"Katie Meier is a tremendously talented coach who deeply cares about the academic, athletic and social development of our student-athletes. Her relentless passion and energy has elevated our women's basketball program to national relevance over the last seven years," said director of athletics Shawn Eichorst. "We look forward to continued growth in our program and are excited that she will be representing the university and leading our student- athletes for many years."
Miami went 26-6 this season and lost to Gonzaga in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
