Foster out as women's hoops coach at Ohio State
Mar 20, 2013 - 4:19 AM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Jim Foster will not return as Ohio State's women's basketball coach next season, the school announced Tuesday.Foster is the program's winningest coach (279-82), but this past season -- his 11th at the helm -- the Buckeyes wound up eighth in the Big Ten standings and finished with an 18-13 overall record.
"Jim Foster has meant so much to so many over his career," Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith said. "His work in mentoring young people on and off the court has been exceptional. The Ohio State women's basketball program was made better under Jim's leadership over the last 11 years."
Ohio State won six consecutive Big Ten regular season titles from 2005-10 under Foster, who also coached at Saint Joseph's and Vanderbilt and is just one of two coaches -- men's or women's at any level -- to win at least 200 games at three different schools.
