DePaul extends Bruno

Jan 14, 2015 - 6:26 PM Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - DePaul University women's basketball coach Doug Bruno has signed a contract extension through the 2019-20 season.

Bruno, who has guided the program to 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, is currently in his 29th season on the bench at his alma mater.

"Doug's accomplishments in and around Chicago and the country are legendary," said DePaul's Director of Athletics Jean Lenti Ponsetto.

In over 31 years as a women's basketball head coach Bruno has amassed an impressive 612 wins. Bruno's 600th win came against Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Cameron Indoor Stadium last season.

In the midst of his 29th year at DePaul, Bruno holds a 572-306 record while leading the program to 19 NCAA Tournament berths. The Blue Demons are just one of nine teams in Division I to reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 12 seasons while Bruno has led the program to a regular-season and Big East Conference tournament titles last season.
