G McGee leaves Arizona
May 13, 2008 - 12:55 AM TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Sophomore guard Marie McGee has left Arizona's women's basketball team for personal reasons, coach Niya Butts announced Monday.No specific reason was given for McGee's departure.
"It is in the best interest of Marie and the Arizona women's basketball program that she uses this time to take a step away from her basketball career," Butts said. "Marie plans to continue her academics and finish her degree at Arizona."
McGee appeared in 21 games - 12 starts - this past season, averaging 21.9 minutes, 4.0 points and 2.2 rebounds. She set career highs in 12 categories but missed nine of the team's final 10 games with injuries.
In two campaigns with the Wildcats, McGee averaged 2.7 points in 34 games.
