Jan 7, 2009 - 4:26 AM SYRACUSE 68, (16) RUTGERS 54SYRACUSE, NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Nicole Michael had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Syracuse to a 68-54 upset win over 16th-ranked Rutgers.
Erica Morrow and Chandrea Jones added 17 and 16, respectively, for the Orange, which made 26-of-38 attempts from the free-throw line, compared to 10 makes on as many tries by the Scarlet Knights.
Syracuse (12-3, 1-1 Big East) limited Rutgers to just 29 percent shooting (20-of-68), including just one field goal - a 3-pointer by Epiphanny Prince - over the last 4:34 of the game.
Prince led Rutgers (8-4, 1-0) with 23 points on 7-of-25 from the field. The Scarlet Knights were coming off a 55-51 loss to Tennessee on Saturday.
(1) CONNECTICUT 83, SOUTH FLORIDA 37
TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Tina Charles had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds and Maya Moore scored 24 points to lead top-ranked Connecticut in an 83-37 rout of South Florida.
The Huskies (14-0, 1-0 Big East) held a 51-30 rebounding advantage and shot 51 percent (33-of-65) from the field. Kalana Greene added 13 points for UConn.
South Florida (13-3, 0-2), which managed just 11 second-half points in its second straight loss, shot 25 percent (15-of-59) from the field. Porche Grant was the only Bulls player in double figures with 10.
(4) NOTRE DAME 86, DEPAUL 62
CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Erica Williamson led four players in double figures with 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as No. 4 Notre Dame cruised to an 86-62 triumph over DePaul.
Natalie Novosel added 18 points and seven boards for the Fighting Irish (13-1, 2-0 Big East), who have won six straight since an overtime loss to Michigan on December 10.
Notre Dame held a 43-25 rebounding advantage and held DePaul to 36 percent (22-of-62) from the field, including 5-of-21 from 3-point range.
Felicia Chester scored 20 points and Keisha Hampton had 19 for DePaul.
The Blue Demons (12-4, 0-2) dropped their second straight game after a seven-game winning streak. They lost to then-No. 13 Louisville on Saturday and face a pair of ranked opponents, Pittsburgh and Connecticut, next week.
(12) LOUISVILLE 76, SETON HALL 47
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry had 28 points and 12th-ranked Louisville scored the first 13 points in the second half to pull away from Seton Hall for a 76-47 victory.
The Cardinals (15-1, 2-0 Big East) led by just two at halftime, 35-33, but held the Pirates scoreless over the first six minutes of the second half to win their 10th straight game.
McCoughtry also registered 13 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. Monique Reid and Keshia Hines added nine points apiece.
Seton Hall (11-3, 0-2) shot just 30 percent (19-of-63) from the field and committed 20 turnovers. Noteisha Womack led the Pirates with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
(21) OKLAHOMA STATE 100, CENTENARY 57
STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Andrea Riley scored 31 points as No. 21 Oklahoma cruised past Centenary, 100-57.
Tegan Cunningham had 20 points and Megan Byford dropped in 16 as the Cowgirls (11-2) won their eighth straight game.
Cierra Bush had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead the Ladies. Natasa Draganic and Ashley Jackson added 10 apiece.
Centenary (2-12) shot just 34 percent (19-of-56) from the field and made 6-of-19 from 3-point range.
RICHMOND 45, (25) WAKE FOREST 33
RICHMOND, Virginia (Ticker) -- Nikita Thomas recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds and Richmond used a stifling defensive effort to hand 25th-ranked Wake Forest a 54-33 defeat, its first loss of the season.
The Spiders (12-3) limited the Demon Deacons to just 13 second-half points and 26 percent (13-of-51) shooting from the field for the game.
Brittani Shells scored 11 and Crystal Goring added 10 for Richmond.
Wake Forest (12-1), which entered the Top 25 for the first time this season Tuesday, was held scoreless over the last 4:17 of the game.
Camille Collier was the only Demon Deacons player in doubles figures with 12 points.
